Moderation

Spam and Abuse Protection

If your site is experiencing spam or abusive comments, you can enable the “Hold comments for moderation” setting in Site Settings to review all comments before they’re published. You can also temporarily disable comments site-wide or on specific sections to stop new comments until the issue is resolved.

Bot Protection

To prevent bot-generated comments, we recommend adding a CAPTCHA, such as Cloudflare’s Turnstile.

Moderation Process

Moderation combines automated and manual steps to ensure comments are appropriate. Each comment is checked against site rules to determine if it should be removed automatically. If enabled, comments are then reviewed by AI and human moderators.

Learn more about Rules.

Approving, Deleting, and Banning

  • Approving Comments: Approved comments will appear on the GET /comments endpoint.
  • Deleting Comments: Deleted comments are removed from your site entirely.
  • Banning Authors: You can set up rules in Site Settings to automatically delete comments from specific authors.

AI Moderation

If enabled, AI moderation flags inappropriate comments. You can choose to:

Automatically delete flagged comments: The AI will remove flagged comments immediately.
Hold flagged comments for review: Flagged comments are held for human moderation if "Hold comments for moderation" is enabled.

Non-flagged comments will either be automatically approved or held for review based on the “Hold comments for moderation” setting.

Human Moderation

When “Hold comments for moderation” is enabled, all comments that have passed Rules and AI moderation will be held for final review by a human moderator. Disabling this will automatically approve any comments that pass the AI.
